Is the crankshaft bolt pattern of the 4.0 equal to the 3.0?
Thanks in advance,

Confused...Do you mean the bellhousing bolt pattern? Because the answer there is no. Ranger engine families aren't compatible with others in that regard.

Or do you mean flexplate/flywheel bolt pattern. I wouldn't know off the top of my head on that one.

I THINK they are the same for the older OHV 4.0Ls. But you really don't want to put a 3.0L clutch on a 4.0L. Newer 4.0Ls have a different bolt pattern from older 4.0Ls (8 bolts instead of 6).

MAKG,
Mine is a 1997, which bolt pattern do you think my crankshaft has? I´m in working in an AOD installation project.
thanks in advance,
Pato

thats a negitive ghost rider. the 4.0 flywheel is also slightly larger in diameter and uses a different ring gear tooth count.
