Today I got the engine of my 2.3l 1994 2WD 5spd out of the garage and back into the truck. Im having a couple difficulties positioning everything back into the engine bay. Does a diagram, set of pictures or guide exist showing the position of the wiring harness? I'm having trouble figuring out how and where to lay the harness. There's a wiring harness that runs down to the transmission that I can't figure out how that it's supposed to reach, and that leads me to believe I have the whole engine harness laid out incorrectly. Also the throttle cable assembly is mystifying me at the moment, is there a guide or a pictures of the assembly with the cover off? That would help me out a ton. Thanks all!

You can download the PDF and print it out if you have a printer...I have attached the file so it should show up...this was downloaded from the on-line manual that is available in the link below:

The accelerator cable should just run from the firewall to the throttle body and it should be straight forward connect. Unless something is blocking the route...but there is only the brake booster in there and the intake manifold...

Maybe get a picture of the problem...that might help

EDIT: Sorry, the file is too big for me to upload to the website. Go to the on-line manual in the link above and download it onto your computer. It is under the repair information section and then look for the electrical section and it is under there...

If that doesn't work I can e-mail it to you...PM me with your e-mail address...

Mark, once again you've saved me! I totally forgot about that online resource manual. I should be able to find everything I need. If you're ever in the north east I owe you a beer or a coffee. Thanks again!

Sounds good...glad to help. If you can't get the file downloaded let me know because I saved a copy.

I wish I had found this when I did my rebuild but I did find something similar so I was OK. The one in the manual seems to have more details. I waited about six months before putting mine back together and when I finally did I was completely lost on a few things.

So much for my infallible memory...:)

I'm not sure how different the 2.3 is from
My 2.5. But my wiring harness is still very fresh on my brain as I just put my new motor in yesterday..

On mine, started at rectangle plug on firewall, them I took the 4 injector plugs and put them where they go, pulled and placed the heat shield wrapped part with the L bend and placed where it goes, wrapping arou the valve cover, dropped the ring terminal ended wires for starter and alternator down that hole, and everything else just seemed to kinda fall in place.. from what I've seen, all the plugs are different and can't really be hooked to the wrong connector.. laid out like I just described, the wires going to the transmission will be like a tail hanging down with a single green wire branching off to oil pressure sender, and another branch going to up stream o2 sensor..

Big square plug should have a clip on it to bolt on to Lower intake..

If yours is different than mine, disregard..

The difference between models prior to 1998 and those made after that point is they actually moved the start point of the harness from over by the brake booster to where the computer was on earlier models up to 1997.

So the 94 has it by the brake booster/steering column. I haven't seen one up close lately but my 1996 had those same three square connectors down by the booster and the power distribution was on the driver side fender.

I remember seeing my friends' 1998 with a 3.0 and noticed they were routed differently and thought how much easier it would have been for my swap to put it all there.

I had the harness running back to front, when it needed to be front to back. Got it all figured out! That made all the connections a lot easier when the harness is actually in the right place!

Good work...thanks for the update!
