So im thinking about building a tubular frame for the 90 instead of frame swap and if im gonna do this im thinking along the lines of a TVR chassis or Jaguar. Something with independent suspension. That can be corner balanced and corner like a Subaru or a miata. Also 50/50ish weight distribution with the body of my old and busted lowered 90 obviously 5.0 T5 or built 351W with a turbo. Something that can be deceptive by looks and kill ricers in the corners even if its just skins over a skeleton with weight boxes in the back.

I wish I had the space, time, and money to try something like this.
There was a short lived racing series that used mini trucks that was run in the early 90's (IIRC) that you should look at.
Best of luck and do a build thread if you decide to go forward with this.

Need low profile tires
Low center of gravity
Yes, 50/50 weight distribution is best

Oh yea, and go electric, much easier to get correct weight distribution, use the "motor on the wheel" setup :)

Im a staunch conservative when it comes to using internal combustion. Electric cars are just lazy. Sure they pack a punch, but id rather hear, feel and build something that is in the spirit of automotive racing not the starbucks and vapid Twitter world. Im not looking to save the planet. Im looking too destroy you all hahaha

Haven driven a Miata many times at the track (skip barber racing school, they just had miatas and mustangs) I can truly say.... Aim higher! :icon_rofl:

You would have an engine, I would suggest Diesel for the generator, but maybe small gasoline for the weight factor

I think you can buy noise makers that you can tune to play v8 sounds, or Ferrari if you like that type of noise

Electric cars were FIRST, well after horses, lol, so can't get more retro than electric powered vehicles.

If I remember correctly, Auto racing is "fastest car wins"

Oh come on Ron, that hasn't been true in half a century. Nascar, NHRA, etc all had cars that ran faster in days past than they do now because the regulations and nonsense keeps limiting cars more and more. The Nascar all time speed record is 33 years old... now adays it's not fastest car, its who can work the system and cheat the rules the most.

Hell ive seen some take turns I figured they would have crashed on. I knew a guy that had one turbo etc. He was keeping up with my friends evo even in the corners.

Yeah..... About that electric cars are boring. So boring they have to add fart sounds on a computer screen to "keep it interesting" apples to nazi oranges. Electric car guys are the flat earthers of the automotive world. I might as well just strap some solid booster engines to it and call it a day and put some wings on it.

The fart sounds are to keep people from complaining that the rest of the car is "too loud". When you silence the engine (even in a car that still has an engine) too much, you REALLY notice all the other noises a car makes... and then idiots complain. I think the 2019 rangers even have the fake noise system.

Drive a first gen. Three boxes of butyl sound deadener later, I can finally hear my ricer CAI

Why did you waste any time or money on sound deadening in that beast? And trucks are suppose to be loud! Not engine/exhaust... but everything should be loud! Locking the door should have a resounding CLICK rolling up the window should squeak, even the AC/heater fan should sound like a tornado full of gravel! That's how you know it's a truck!

Also, I think I mentioned this via pm, but look into the Ford IRS system used in Thunderbird. Explorer may have it as well, depending on year.

Thunder chicken are we talking that 87 turbo or the 90's fatbirds
