Guys,
I am having some coolant related issues with my 1999 3.0L Ranger. Please let me know what you think.
Background:
Temp gauge climbed rapidly to H then returned to normal. Checked coolant and found it to be low. Leak was found coming from waterpump. Waterpump was replaced.
Gauge once again climbed to H and would return to normal. This occurred consistently at the same point in my route to work everyday. Once the gauge returned to normal, it would remain for the rest of the trip. I also found the overflow tank was overfilling with coolant and the radiator was low. Changed the radiator cap and continued to monitor coolant level daily. Thought the thermostat might be the issue. Replaced the thermostat.
It now takes a long time for the temp gauge to climb at all, but it eventually gets to the middle. The heater, however, does not work at that point. The gauge then begins to fall back below the cool line, still no heater. The gauge then climbs close to H but falls back down to middle. As soon as it gets to the normal temp level, my heater works again. It continues to work for the rest of my drive. This is the EXACT same process every time I drive my truck after it is completely cold.
Any ideas?
