Can anyone tell me what the heck this is and where it goes? I noticed it hanging after completing a long distance drive. The check engine light has also come on as well and I’m assuming this is why.
thank you in advance guys! 0D56D788-86C7-4965-9BA2-ECF115F45C72.jpeg

Yep, O2 sensor, fell out of the exhaust, probably got a different exhaust tone at one point...

I agree that it's an O2 sensor as well.

I Concur.

O2 sensor.

Either that, or it's the superheterodyne plasma level sensor. If you run out of plasma, your Flux capacitor will fail by reaching super-criticality.

Kinda wild, you can't get a damn o2 sensor loose when you have to, let alone one come unscrewed on it's own. It would never come loose and self twist the wiring enough to unscrew itself all the way and then fall out.

When is the last time you had some exhaust work or repairs done? Someone either started threading it with two fingers and never went back and threaded it all the way in, or they had never installed it and it was tucked up out of the way and it finally fell down, but you should have instantly noticed a new loud 'puft puft puft' exhaust leak sound all of a sudden if it did randomly fall out.

Kinda late, but yea, O2 sensor, and it's now garbage. If it was actually being used (not like the old part that just got left hanging there), you'll definitely need to replace it, not just screw it back in.
