Im getting these two codes, which bascially say my engine is running lean. (171 for bank 1, 174 bank 2)

I have an intake and exhuast on it and this CEL came on after the exhuast broke and i replaced it with a straight pipe coming out of the side. However the CEL did take a while to finally come on after the exhuast broke, and whenever i reset the ECU the CEL comes on almost immediately after driving for 5 mins or so, so im not sure if there is a connection with the freer flowing exhuast and the CEL or not. Does anyone know if the exhuast is too unrestrictive that it would go as far to make the motor run lean? Seems unlikely to me. Also the exhuast strictly broke AFTER the cats and all the O2 sensors are still intact. So the problem isnt there.

Any thoughts? My main concern is if the code is related to the exhuast or if its more likley a coincidence that it came on when it did, and if so, where would the first place to look be? Also the truck runs fine. The only thing that changed was that it seems to be drinking more gas then normal.

Ok, i am going to try and clean the MAF out today. Ill just run out n get that MAF cleaner advance always has and give it a good cleaning.

Im thinking this might be the cuase, seeing how the truck runs fine. I have a feeling if it was the gaskets it would be running a lil worse and becuase i really dont want it to be the gaskets.....

So i cleaned the MAF with a little improvment in smoothness of the engine. But the dreaded CEL came back on after clearing the codes.

So i started hunting for that intake gasket leak and what do I find? A crushed vacuum line elbow with a dry rotted spilt down the whole thing. I think its the one going to the PCV valve....But anyway yeah, thats gotta be the problem. It was leaking pretty bad too. I didnt replace it yet to find out for sure if its gona keep that cel off. But i have a good hunch it will. If I dont reply to this thread anymore, then its fixed lol
