could anyone help me? i have a 98 ranger that i just replaced the clutch and throw out bearing on but the new throw out bearing doesn’t fit my clutch line because the throw out has a retaining clip. what kind of hose do I need to fit it? is there an adapter that i need to buy? what would be the best solution without taking the transmission back out?

I don't know much about that Austin, and most of the people that do have likely turned in.
You'll get more answers after morning rolls around.

Good luck with it man

Welcome to TRS :)

Its called the slave cylinder that is inside the bell housing, the throwout bearing attaches to the slave cylinder, but the hose connects to slave

Yes, Ford used two different kinds of Quick Disconnect fittings on the slave, but the hose from Master should work on either type

Put the clip in the fitting first
Push the hose firmly into the fitting, you should hear/feel it click and lock into place

You only remove the clip to take the hose off, but you put it back in before pushing the hose on

Your hose end should look like this: https://b4b4c1e06d06f0b8f86a-3c942b...1.rackcdn.com/Fittings_Male-large-16-1-v1.jpg

You can see that the end is bevelled and then there is a slot behind it
As you push the hose in the bevelled part pushes the edges of the clip back, and then clip snaps back into the slot to hold the hose in place

If your hose has the plastic "release" ring(white part in pic) make sure its pulled back all the way, its there for the other type of slave fitting
