Clay bar vs polishing compound?

Clay cleans the surface and prevents dirt from being picked up by the pad and ground into the clear coat, causing more damage.
Polishing compound removes a little bit of the clear coat until the scratched/swirled layer is gone.
Wax sits on top of the clear coat and protects it.

Mud hides everything and allows you to relax and enjoy the fact that you had fun driving it last weekend
