01 ranger 4x4. When I give it gas to take off up hill. There’s a chirping from under the hood. I replaced the belt and idle pulley. But it’s still doing it. Could it be the tensioner pulley or something else? Thank you for the help.

If it's a 3.0 check the cam synchro.

@Jeremy-b
Neither profile\signature\thread note your engine?
If you got the V6~4.0L~SOHC, may be SerpBelt is too long, forcing BeltTensioner out to it's limit, causing ticking.
Could try next shorter size belt, & lube up the Tensioner & Idler bearings while your there.
Recommend Goodyear#Gatorback (same as Continental#Elite) as a replacement; quality "grippy" belt at a low price.

On the 4.0 it's very common to have either the tensioner pulley or the idler pulley start squeaking as they age. I've replaced them both numerous times, with all different brands.

EDIT: I know a lot of people were also buying the Gatorback belt claiming that it reduced the squeaking.

This. Also from personal experience, if you have a leaking radiator hose spraying a little coolant on the belt it will squeak too

Water pumps driven off the back of the belt are prone to making the belt squeak, or other flat pulleys between ribbed pulleys. If there is any misalignment across the flat pulley the belt will squeak going across the flat pulley... My F350 is plagued with belt squeak, it's brackets and pulleys are haggered... I think I've replaced all the pulleys and it still squeals pretty good, I gave up... that belt is only 10' long so it does some things... I think the culprit is the vacuum pump though...

If you look down the pulleys and see what is out of alignment, you can put a washer behind whatever pulley is causing the issue...

Well after changing the idler pulley and belt. No chirp. But power steering fluid is all over the place now after driving. I already topped it off once.

You mean all over the place as in it shot out of the reservoir?

Also.... WHAT ENGINE IS THIS!!!! LOL

Omg. Well I just found out the belt was on wrong. And I drove it about 45 miles while like that. The belt is on correctly but it’s still spitting. It looks like it’s spraying from the reservoir. It’s a 4.0 6 cyl 4x4

With ps fluid all over, hard to tell if your chirp is fixed or just being masked by the extra "lube"

I’m sorry I thought I did in a post. 6 cyc 4x4 4.0.

For the future, there are two 4.0 engines. The OHV and the SOHC. if it doesn’t say SOHC on the top of the engine (I think on the intake cover), then it’s and OHV. It makes a difference when trying to help you diagnose problems since they are very different engines.
