My credo
I poop in the furnace.
I came out of the bunker today to work on the truck a bit. Trying to make sure its in top notch shape in case I need to flee to a more secure location.

Last year I did plugs and wires, autolite iridium plugs but I cheaped out and bought "house brand" wires from advance. Took a close look at them and everywhere they touch they have white marks form arcing through. It's almost impossible to keep the wires seperated on the 2.3 duratec without adding aftermarket spacers.

Just a word of caution, BUY MOTORCRAFT!

They aren't worn through enough that I have noticed a miss but they would be burned up shortly if I didn't catch it now.

Wait, did you get the CARQUEST or the Driveworks ones.

CARQUEST are usually OK, I wouldn't buy the DW wires unless I had no other options.

Spark plug wires need social distancing..............................you got to love the timing, pun intended

You need to stop using this pic until this situation is over... You’re not supposed to touch your face.
Try having eczema on your face with 15-20% humidity and not touching your face. It's one of the toughest battles you will never win.

I learned my lesson years ago to not use cheap wires or plugs due to the exact issues with your specified set. I stopped getting in stock wires from local parts stores and have gone to ordering good sets on line and have a fresh set of taylor wires for mine in the cellar for when mine go bad.

This thread has sparked my interest in new wires for my rig

I believe they were the driveworks ones. Oem motorcrafts are on the way along with some spacer looms.

You have learned a valuable lesson, little apprentice.

Interesting. Although I almost never buy anything from Advance. So far I’ve had success with Duralast wires from Autozone, plus they are lifetime warranty...

A real surge of info here ...

I started the engine and stuck my finger on the wire by the arc mark... now my bones hurt...
