I have an 03 Ranger edge with a 3.0 in it and I have four catalytic converters. Do I need so many, if not what would be the best plan of action for removing the excess cats?

yes, you need them, leave them alone, they dont cost you any performance or mileage.

Ok well I want to get new headers, what would be my best choice? I'm looking to get a little more hps out of my 3.0

supercharge it...lol.

just headers probably won't change a lot, seriously..
air intake, well... the ranger is kinda a cold air intake..
larger injectors.
better gearing.
polish the intake.

search... there's lots of info here on 3.0 performance

if you were to switch the catalytic converter to a magna flow high flow would you notice a difference at all?

its the factroy 2 stage cats with 212000
In that case a high-flow cat would probably help. Usually cheaper than an OE replacement as well. Random Technology or Magnaflow. A few companies make 3.0 headers. JBA is the best but also the priciest.

Just to make it clear on that removing cats does not do anything, besides making you vehicles loud. A while back I was looking for some websites that debunked car myths, and found one that was good. In a nutshell they did the cat removal myths, and found that with the cats removed that they gained 1Hp 1Hp on the honda. In Sweden race cars use cats. Yes using a high flow cat can help, but really I would not touch my cats, and O2 sensor until I have an issue. Ps I will try to find the website again
