The bolt on the rear passenger shock was seized in the bushing and I couldn't get it out of there, no matter what I tried.

So, I introduced it to my good friends: sawz all and an impact hammer. Came right out.

On a separate note, also popped the differential cover off to replace fluid and check gears; pretty sure that's not what the fluid is supposed to look like..

That looks like 50,000 mile motor oil. Not gear oil.

In the shop I hated cracking open a diff with old gear oil in it. The smell stuck around for days after and I could smell it every morning entering the shop. I hope you cracked that one outside to prevent this issue. GL5 is stinky when new and putrid when over used. 🤮

And no That is some serious old gear lube for sure.

My brother says the putrid stuff smells like money...

When I worked at a dealer sales was always getting freaked out when the shop opened a new diff. The new synthetic gear oil made from natural gas... smells like natural gas when it is used.

it's still on jack stands so couldn't do it outside; the garage still smells almost a week later...
