I bought this a couple years ago for 5 or 6 bucks at a UPS lost and damaged freight store. I figured whatever it is, it's worth more than what I paid. Trouble is, I have no idea exactly what it is or what it goes to. I've searched the numbers on it, but get nowhere. I BELIEVE it's a wastegate of some sort. Please tell me if you have any clues.

it looks like a Cummins EGR valve. I couldn't tell you from what model of engine. The motor and plug on it look a lot like the one used on an ISX.

I've looked at a bunch of pics of Cummins EGR valves. It doesn't look like any of the pics. Autozone only lists EGR valves for the older trucks.

Any other guesses??

Seeing how its an electrc motor and not a vacuum motor, I'd say its an exhaust engine brake...

i think thats the elusive "exhaust bearing" :D

Oh yeah.....I can see what you mean. That must be what the brass fittings are for.....to oil the bearing(s). The solenoid must be what engages it. I've heard about these things, but never had a vehicle with one. It must be for a Dodge for sure.

:icon_rofl: - sorry couldn't hold it in.

This was another guess I had. Does anyone know if any of the big 3's diesel motors came with the engine brake from the factory? It seems like I remember hearing Dodges were going to make a Jake Brake an option.

Dodge I'm not sure when it was an option, Duramax as of 2011...The aftermarket has been making them for almost 5 years now...

I've been searching in the google images and found some "jake brake" logos under the cummins emblem. I've had this for around 2 years, I'd like to help someone out with it by giving a good deal on it.

More than just the big three ran smaller cummins with engine brakes Im sure. But to be honest it kinda looks like EGR or EGT sensor to me.

True, it may be for an Isuzu or Mitsubishi box truck. Hopefully somebody says "hey I know that thing", LOL.

It has the two smaller compression fittings and what looks to be a pump and a valve body. I`m guessing water on one side and fuel or oil on the other. hummm

Take it to a truck dealer that services cummins engines, it looks like an EGR valve. One of the parts guys or mechanics may be able to identify it. It is off an engine larger than a 5.9 from a dodge pickup. The compression fittings on the side are for coolant to circulate thru it. Try an International dealer.
