camshaft synchronizer? please help!

i got a new 02 sensor, i have an appt to get the truck looked at on Thursday. the mechanic told me to bring the sensor with me. will post what the problem is on Thursday once i find out!

Try the O2 sensor, hopefully it will fix you problem. As a word of caution mine went away for a time when I replaced anything (sensor or plugs as directed by Ford service department), then within a month (three max) the symptoms would start coming back. I'm not saying your problem is same as mine, but I don't want to hide the fact that it could be worse than a sensor either.

the test said cylinder 6 misfire. put new moto craft plugs in runs like a champ! it had crappy bosch ones. so problem solved

Did you get double platinum? FYI, ford prefers autolite plugs. Most if not all 95+ Ford's require double platinums...

Motorcraft = Autolite

Same plug different box. Motorcraft is the Ford OEM label, and Autolite is the generic parts store label.

ALayton29, I hope your problem stays fixed. If it comes back in a few months get a compression test done. Once again I hate to say it, but what you are describing is exactly how my 99 4.0L acted with the bad head. I'd replace spark plug at service department's direction, a few months later the problem would be back and they would say same thing. That went on for at least a year, with an 80 dollar service charge each time. Finally I got smart, decided they didn't know shit and demanded a compression/leak down test. That's when they found the compression leak.
