CA vs 49 state smog requirements

Are the newer model Rangers (2005-2010) sold with 2 different emission set-ups for California and the other 49 states?



I'm considering purchasing a 2007 Ranger in California, but Carfax says the truck was sold and previously registered in NC and GA. I don't want to buy it if I may have headaches getting it smogged in CA a few years from now.

the only catalytic converters allowed to be sold now are stock replacements right? meaning a high flow cat isn't legal to be sold or installed.

as for paul i'm going to just give a guess here: as long as the truck is already registered in CA, it should have been smogged as part of the inspection process. not 100% sure though

(almost) All vehicles made since the mid 90's have cali emissions (from what i heard)
