Hey guys I have a 99 5spd with 151k I just rebuilt the upper end with new heads, pushrods/rockers and complete regasketing of the motor, along with Clutch and slave cylinder. The motor blew both head gaskets, timing cover, and intake at basically all the same time. Never had internal Leaking, everything was external. Since The rebuild it has been burning about a quart every 100-150 miles. Only visable at startup, shifting and pulling out, but does stink most of the time of oil. I bought the heads from Cylinder Heads international. Vacuum checks out as normal prior to rebuild and power seems unaffected from before rebuild ( 22hg at idle). Here is my wet/dry compression test and adding 5ml of 10w30 on wet test.
Dry-Wet
Cylinder 1 160-180
Cylinder 2 155-175
Cylinder 3 150-160 ( Original head had a crack between valves
Cylinder 4 145-165 ( Original head had a crack between valves
Cylinder 5 170-175
Cylinder 6 150-155
Knowing this motor is fairly up there in miles I figured it would have some wear on the rings but I'm a bit uncertain if my rings are shot or just worn for the miles it has. It started Burning oil like a switch after I rebuilt the top end. I'm thinking it could be the valve stem seals leaking but I'd like another opinion. Thanks guys for any input!
