Seen it before, just not that bad.....ugh, hate to have that happen to me....

thus why I absolutely will NOT buy a Pro Crap tire. I have seen this happen to one of their tires.

separated tires happen.

precisely why im not an advocate of BFG TA/KO's...ive seen an awful lot of them go bad, even for as popular as they are.

Nice buldges. Never seen one yet that big. I've seen them as big as a fist, but never like that one on the Chevy.

As for the video provided of tire age. It is recommended not to have tires installed if the DOT number is 6 years old. 10year old tires should be disconutined and replaced. Dry rot, age, ozone damage; can all still affect a tire, even if its not in use.

Something funny about some of those pictures. I think some of those are photoshopped.

Looks like someone likes to look impressive spinning their tires on gravel...

If it was a design defect I would think it would be coming off of both sides of the tread blocks...

I find alot of these threads/pics hiliraious and then the following posts and pics to the orig post. Majority of tire failures have little to do with the construction of the tire...... I can't even count the amount of times tires get brought back to my shop that look like the above pro comp
Bulges of Death ####################

I don't know the story behind the pic. But almost ever tire i see that looks like this was caused from running it on pavement at to low of tire pressure at to high of speeds. With the sidewall flexing from being to low on air creates an amazing amount of heat. That heat dry/burns up the rubber in the sidewall eventually seperating it from the treaded portion.

I see it all the time, customer brings in tire that looks just like that, tells me its a manufacturer defect and they want a new for free, i explain what i explained above. They argue, I look over the tire and about 80% sure as shit i find a screw/hole or whatever int he tread that caused the tire to go low/flat on air which in turn eventually led to the failure.

Most cases same goes with the bulges, majority of bulges or softballs are cause from curbs or something blunt jabbing the sidewalls creating an impact break in the tires which lets air bleed into he layers of the sidewalls creating the bulges.

Obviously some tires are defective from the manufact. But most cases failures above are not

FWIW

really not tuff at all
