I would strap them too the sides and seal the bed real good so it is part of the float. You know the best bilge pump in the world is a scared fisherman with a five gallon bucket.

Even better, if it starts to take on water and sink - bring a shotgun to shoot a hole in the bottom so the water will drain out!
