Bronco ii gas tank in a 80s ranger??

I was wondering if anyone on here has ever used a bronco ii gas tank in an 80s ranger?I'm not sure how close the frames are to each other or if the tank will even fit in the frame rails without extensive modifications.let me know

@BlackBII has one in his 2nd gen, which is close enough.

IIRC he had a body lift, had to clearance the bed a bit, and it still just barely fit.

I have a spare B2 tank in my garage loft. If it was easy I'd have done it already.

Go for it.

I just know this question comes up from time to time from people thinking it will be a direct fit replacement for the factory 13 gallon aux tank.

I recommend using the forward tank support from a BII with it; I was able to use the rear frame structure, moved forward to support the rear. I chose to go forward to the rear of the axle just like on a BII.

If you are only going to use the BII tank, use it's fuel fitting because of the angles. A consideration is an access panel in the bed for future inner tank and pre-filter changes.

The tank is just visible in the second pic, to the right of the left rear shock mount.
