Broke a Bolt HELP!!!!!!

So I broke a main bearing cap bolt in my 92 2.3l. I have been everywhere in my small town and online to find this stupid thing. The biggest problem is the bolt has a step down shoulder on it. Does anyone know where i can find this thing so I can get my truck back>
 
I assume you've tried scrapyards? I've had a heck of a time finding Ford fasteners anywhere else... including the dealer.
 
I would be surprised if you couldn't get a set of arp bolts from summit or similar. Summits website sucks for searching for stuff, probably just call them.

I took a quick scan of Rockauto and Summit as I'm sure the OP did too... I didn't see anything at all listed but calling Summit is a good idea. I was surprised they didn't list any... can't be that uncommon.

The sometimes successful trick to this is to find the Ford part number. You can do that by going to the various places that sell OEM parts for a discount, searching for what you need, then searching the part number on Google. Do a search for "Ford OEM parts online." If you find something that looks like a positive result, double check. I came up with two part numbers that were labeled as main bearing cap bolts. It's quite obvious one of those results are cylinder head bolts. The other result is D4FZ-6345-A. There are several results on eBay and other places, but I didn't see any pictures to confirm they are the correct bolts. Also look at the companies that sell engine parts and gasket sets. I took a look at Federal Mogul (Sealed Power and Fel-Pro), but didn't see them there. It doesn't hurt to try the local engine rebuilders and machine shops to see if they can order a set for you. The last option would be the companies that sell performance parts. They use upgraded fasteners, but it's probably going to be expensive. The last option would be to walk around a boneyard with an impact wrench. The local pick n pulls here will not sell fasteners unless you buy something else that they go into, but they will add a dollar per bolt.

I would be shocked if Summit had a reman available.

If my junk was more organized I'd offer to send you a couple... I'm sure I have a spare set of those bolts floating around but I don't have time to go digging for another week or two...

I have ARP rod bolts in my '90 right now, broke my vise putting them in :) (not recommended, worked fine but I just threw that engine together, the more correcter way to do it would be to have a machine shop do it and bore out the rods so they're not oval or anything...)
 
The original post was main caps bolt, not rod bolts. (Less expensive rod bolts won't really resolve his issue)

I was expecting more questions on how to get the broke piece out of the block. But I also have concerns about what OP was doing to break the main cap bolt in the 1st place - normally main cap bolts aren't corroded, and come out relatively easy...

Yeah, that is my fault on the rod bolts. Maybe the OP could call Bopart racing and inquire about the main cap bolt he needs.
I was wondering how he broke a bolt too, but had not asked the question. @Archer89 , care to fill us in? It has to be an interesting story.
