Hello All,
I have a mystery that perhaps could be solved here and also answer anyone else's questions to boot. I cannot find the answer or part anywhere - been searching for days now - Yikes !

Symptoms:
Brake fluid leaking from beneath o-ring on 'Mystery Valve' - when the brake pedal is pushed in you can actually see the fluid leaking out from under the o-ring in the pictures - I find this assembly to be quite strange as this screw in valve doesn't seem to come apart where the o-ring is seated but there is a small hole in the groove underneath - is that a pressure relief hole under the o-ring ?

Location:
Rear port of Master Brake Cylinder - Screwed into MBC - see photos.

I cannot find this part anywhere but stamped into the metal is '223962'

Please help me identify where to get this part so I can move on with my life :) thanks !

Marty

I don't think that is a factory part. I've never seen anything like it.

+1 ^^

My guess would be the master cylinder threads got stripped and someone added that after retapping hole.

It will come apart where "O" ring is.
Remove brake line first

If you have a thin open end wrench put it on the "nut" close to master to hold it, then try to unscrew the outer fitting from that, replace "O" ring, and don't over tighten it when reassembling.

If it doesn't want to separate don't force it, unscrew the whole fitting from master and put it in a vise to separate, or try an auto parts store for replacement.

Ford calls it a brake pressure control valve, lots of Fords have them. Might be a dealer only item. If I remember correctly, they are just sealed with O-rings, so you may be able to fix your leak without replacing the valve itself.

already had this apart

OK - I'll admit I didn't take a picture before and it was awhile ago, but I really don't remember this part splitting in 2 pieces
I suppose I'll tool it up again ,take pics & repost

--- and call the dealer - thanks hondarx650

Valve Doesn't Separate

I took the valve out and saw there was no way to dissassemble except to remove the 'poppet valve retainer ring - not sure if I want to do this b/c the vehicle is my DD -

As far as the valve goes, - I also think it may be called a 'Residual Pressure Valve' by other mfg's.

I replaced the o-ring, to no avail - still leaks when applying pressure.

I see they are sometimes listed as rotor based ( 2 psi ) or drum ( 10 psi )

can anyone help here ??
