Body rust repair question

Holy back from the dead!!

Although I still haven't fixed the bedsides on my F-150 yet, lol. I cut all the cancer out of the passenger side fender, flanged the edge, and tacked a patch panel on, but that's as far as I got, lol.

expanding foam absorbs water. cut it out and weld in new metal. i have cut out sections of an inner fender to treat the inside of the skin, then get a piece larger from the junkyard and patch it back in. after undercoating and a little road grime you cant tell.

I got cancer spots on my truck, but seeing as body work is beyond my know how. I think i'm screwed.

Don't be scared of it. I never had anyone teach me body work, what I know I learned on my own. Read a lot of stuff on it, asked a lot of questions, and used my head when I needed to. It's really not all that scary. Cutting out cancer, fabbing in replacement stuff, doing bondo, it doesn't really take much to get used to it. Now when you get into fabbing replacement panels and bumping out dings, now you're talking some more skill, IMHO.

Hmmm, probably shouldn't have done the expanding foam then. I only put it on one side, but I hit it with a few layers of bondo and about 5 coats of primer/5 coats of paint, 3 coats gloss. I guess I'll find out in 6 mo to a year if it worked *shrug*

The reason why a lot of Fords are prone to rusting out the fenders in the wheel arches is because from the factory they got a strip of foam shoved in there. One of "Ford's Better Ideas" I'm sure....

HAHA! Darn it... I'll do my best to keep water out of the area between the headliner and the top edge of the cab... Darn you for shaking my confidence. My bondo is far superior to logic and good ideas.
