I have a 1989 Ranger that sometimes the blower motor and battery dash light come on when key is off. If you smack the dash board it will go off and sometimes on. Any Ideas out there?

The first thing that comes to mind, and the first place I'd check, is the ignition switch. It's mounted on the steering column, down lower than where you put the key in.

If the switch is worn and/or coming apart, I can see movement of the wiring making the ACC contacts close when they should be open (i.e.- key off).

And, when you're in there, be on the lookout for past wiring hackery.

I agree with Robbie on this one, next time it does it, put the key back in and jiggle it a bit before taking it out to see if the problem goes away.

Remove your lower steering column cover and the ignition switch is about 2 inches long and held with 2 scres/bolts. You might be able to see how it is starting to seperate. It has a slide that makes differnet various contacts in it. I was able to just squeeze the tabs in a vice to fix mine. On my build thread, the 57 post has a picture of what I am talking about.
