Looking to install a block heater on my truck. I have read the writeup from tech library and know how to do it. Just trying to find one. The OEM one for my truck shows discontinued. Are there any other Ford ones that will work on my 02 4.0? Or just go with an aftermarket one? If so what are your suggestions? I understand it isn't necessary to install one, but when it goes below 0 every night, I feel at least some heat in the coolant will help the engine on cold start. Can't hurt in my opinion. Thanks

OEM block heater is probably going to require removing and replacing a freeze plug.

Personally, I don't hate the idea I just don't need one for a gasser in my climate. The diesel is plugged in as we speak in case I want to drive it tomorrow.

If I were to add a heater to any of my gassers, I'd go with one that installs in the radiator hose. Cut the hose and slip it inline.

With the right oil viscosity for your climate it definitely isn't necessary, but having almost instant warm air out of the vents could make it worth while.

yup.
