will bilstein 5100 shocks fit a stock 2006 ranger FX4 with cranked tbars?
my old stock bilsteins (FX4 level II) are getting worn out, may as well upgrade.

i do lots of gravel road with washboard, and a few spots my front tires will leave the ground over railway crossings. figured may as well upgrade when i get new shocks. interested in the 5100's but will they fit?

There is only one way to be sure if they fit, don't shop by the vehicle make/model selector, shop by dimensions. Cycle your suspension and measure the shocks you currently have fully compressed, and expanded. Take those dimensions, and pay note to the mounting style(hoop or stud) and call bilstein with those dimensions and ask for a part #.

I know of people that made 5100 shocks work on stock FX4 L2 but there are Bilstein shocks that are made for a stock FX4 L2. The part numbers are BE5-2794 and BE5-2795. They are a little firmer than the original Bilstein L2 shock but I think they are better off-road and still have a reasonable ride on the road. I was never all that happy with the original L2 Bilstein shocks for all around off-road use.

Yeah the stock ones aren't bad at all, but it still gets a bit squirly going over heavy washboard at 75-85 mph. Wanna get rid of that.

Huh, if your looking to get rid if squirly ride going 85 over heavy washboard you might just want to look into getting a hovercraft. A truck can do good, but at that speed, its gonna get a little harry no matter what shocks you put on with a relatively stock suspension.

Well when I first got this thing it did fine in those situations they're just worn out now. so instead of just putting stock shocks on again figured now would be a good time to upgrade.
