Hello, I've been researching V8 conversions in rangers for a couple years and I've finally starting on the swap into my 90' 2wd extcab. I already bought a complete 302 out of a 83 mustang GT with a mild cam, eldebrock bolt ons, and its been bored .040. Now I'm just not sure on what the best trans for my situation would be, so this is where I need the experience of the guys that have already done it. I plan on using the truck as a daily driver so I'd really like something that would give me good performance but not completely destroy fuel economy and reliability. The truck is currently a manual, the 5 speed OD, so I know I can't use the original trans. I'm willing to go either auto or manual, I'd just like to know what would be the best trans of both that would fit well under the truck. :icon_confused:

I had one with a '87 Mustang T5 and currently have one with a C4.... both were/are daily driver's.... T5 was a lot more fun.... my choice would be T5 especially since you have the basic setup in the truck for it now.

Speaking purely from owning Foxbodies with the T5 & AOD, I'd go for the T5. 1 mpg better, too.
