Hey guys, i know this has probably been hit over the head soooo many times but i have to ask. I've searched nearly every post high and low, found great info but nothing solid on where to find the best prices.

Currently I have a Magnaflow exhaust and a K and N intake, the only other additions i want to do include

a Superchips Tuner
the 1.7 (or 1.8) rockers
the underdrive pulley kit, and
a Hurst short throw shifter

My big question is where to buy each one of these and what should i expect to pay?

All comments, suggestions, and ideas are more than welcomed, ill even take criticism haha. :icon_thumby:

I'd avoid the superchips tuner, unless you have access to someone who can write a custom tune for you. Most just come with a generic "canned" tune that won't give you all of the benefits of a custom tune. SCT X-cal's are great though. And guys like Fred@rogueperformance really know their stuff when it comes to custom tuning the Vulcan 3.0. Whatever route you go, save the tuner for the end, so that the custom tunes can account for all of your other mods.

The roller rockers can be purchased through moranav6racing.com. They're not the cheapest rockers around, but they are the only ones that will bolt directly on, and will work without issue with your drivetrain. Trying to use 5.0 rockers, or something similar usually ends up with poor geometry.

The best place I've seen for underdrive pullies is stuffforyourranger.com. Wayne, the guy who runs the site, is a ranger enthusiast, and a great guy to buy from.

Dang, thanks for the tips, I'll make sure to get the tuner last then!

Man are those rockers expensive at that website, lol, I'm guessing they are good quality then. What would be best, the 1.7 or 1.8?

And I've been hearing of that SCT xcal alot. But I went on the website and all I saw were the SF3, the handheld, and the X3. Is the xcal just a general name or is it a specific tuner?

Finally one more question to add... I wanted to ask if headers would help out. I doubt I'd end up with them, but if it would help a good amount with the other mods i may splurge.

You've reached the point, where engine mods start to get more expensive, so get used to things being over $300. The roller rockers, tuner, and headers all cost around $400 each. You have to pay to play.

As far as rockers go, 1.8's would give you a larger gain, but 1.7's are supposed to be a nice upgrade over stock too. It's just personal preference, and what you want out of your truck.

X3 stands for X-cal 3, so it's the latest version of their X-cal family of tuners. I'd get that one, or the Livewire, which is essentially an upgraded x3.

Headers probably won't make a huge difference, and are supposed to be a real pain to install, so I wouldn't pay full price for JBA's ($400-$600). If you just have to have some, you can find good quality knock-offs on ebay for around $250 every once in awhile, which might be worth it. Either that, or try and find some used JBA's.

Yeah I did some searching and I think I may skip the headers, they dont seem worth it as much as the underdrive pulleys and roller rockers. Everywhere I search seems to point to these as being the best upgrades anyhow.

Better save up some money for some fun I guess.:D

I found a used Hurst shifter for C$140.00 delivered to Canada. It works awesome!

But....does the shifter really make much of a difference? I drag race tractor trailers from time to time, and I have seen some lightning fast shifts. Faster than at the regular drag strip...

I feel that is just hiding a lack of practice myself...

watch for used stuff, it will be way cheaper than new. Ive got a used DZK underdrive pulley if you want it, PM Me.
