i have a stock 1994 4.0L V6 ford ranger and im looking to get some performance upgrades. whats the best bang for my buck? i dont really know much. also what are some good places to order parts and accessories?

I love Summit Racing and they have real car guys answering the phone!

What part of Canada are ya from? I know a dude in Calgary with some ported heads and NIB camshafts lyin around waiting for a good home...

I thought it was pretty expensive to ship to Canada. Will some places ship to you and not charge a bunch?? You ned to check into that, Bro.

Your Local junkyard is the best source of upgrade parts...

Specifically you will want to look for some variation of this:

It is. It's called brokerage. Basically bend over and take it up the a** to get it over the border. I once paid $80 brokerage - through your friendly UPS agent - on $200 worth of parts , EB coil springs and center link.

For a 4.0, you won't find much really, you have to craft some stuff yourself and be creative, but I have seen someone run a 12.2 in the 1/4 mile with a stock shortblock 4.0. It had a healthy dose of spray, slicks, 31 spline with all strange parts in it, and hand ported heads with a 3 angle valve job with a big cam.

Look for a pre-96 V-8 EFI Ford Mustang, or 96-01 V-8 ford explorer.

Swapping it is going to be the best bang for the buck, Period.

There are tons of write-ups available, and it is essentially a bolt-in swap that can be done in a weekend for a few hundred dollars if you look to do it on the super cheap. I spent less than a grand for my initial V-8 swap.
