I don't know about the best, but I've got replacement lock cylinders from a guy on eBay, Wolf Security I think it was. He does key matching and all. I got PATS keys for a couple trucks and a new ignition cylinder for my work truck. He does a good job with very reasonable prices.
Yup, I sent him high res pictures of the keys and told him what I needed. He said to set the keys on a plain dark background if possible to make it easier to see. Everyone was amazed that I got cut keys in the mail, lol.
I haven't dealt with him personally yet, but his ebay store says he can do custom keyed ignition cylinders for the 1st gen Rangers, so when I get the money together (other things keep coming up) I am going to get a new lock for the Ranger that fits the original key.
I went with the BWD (Borg Warner) switch ordered off Ebay for under $20.
When I pulled the old one out, it had grease on it. Should I have put grease on the new one? Perhaps there is enough grease in the hole to suffice. Instructions only said do not remove key till installed. Thanks
