wondering if there is a good power junction box out there for going from the positive battery post to a 2/3 way multi junction for hooking up stuff.... 1 to the starter then open lines for other goodies....

Has anyone built up something good to post a pic of? or knows of any pre made units?

thanks

I remember seeing a thread on trs several years ago. I believe it was in one of the forums in styling and electrical. Someone had built their own and documented it.

I was just thinking about this recently...another member was talking about the starter relay connections and how they are all piled onto one post (pos)...and how it could be moved to a separate box.

I know this is a bit different...but I was also thinking about the Power Distribution Box on the newer Rangers...and how that could be used to run all kinds of other options with the relays built right in...

I think relays would be the way to go for adding anything to any system...

Yes, with the puny size of vehicle wiring, relays are a absolute must. Power distribution boxes sound like a great idea. Whack 'em off at the pick & pull! I sure will be...

I personally use one of these:

https://www.waytekwire.com/item/45606/MINI-ATM-Fuse-Block/

They also come in 4 and 10 gang versions. IIRC they're the only people who carry such a block that both distributes and uses mini fuses (and nothing more). To mount it, I drilled holes in my fender by the factory fuse/relay box and mounted it on long nylon spacers. I wanted mini fuses because I didn't want carry two different sizes in the glove box.

If I was using an older unit with non-mini fuses, I'd instead go with this:

https://www.waytekwire.com/item/46063/Cooper-Bussmann-15600-12-21-12-Gang-Fuse-Block/

Those come in smaller gang counts too... 6, 10, 12 and maybe others too. When I was on a robotics team years ago, for a couple years this was the mandated panel (along with a DIN rail block and Maxi fuses for large drive motors). Bussman makes really nice fuse-related products and if they made a mini-fuse version of this I would have used that inste

Bussman also makes distribution modules with mini fuses and relay hookups, if you wanted to go that route (and pay a lot more $):

https://www.waytekwire.com/item/46354/Bussmann-15401-2-0-1-0A-RFRM-Panel-/

Which is used with:

https://www.waytekwire.com/item/30098/TYCO-AMP-MCP2-8-Terminal/

Personally I see it as overkill unless you were doing a pure aftermarket wiring system (no stock fuse/relay box). But while grabbing links for the first one, I saw this, and deemed it worthy of mention.

Lots of options...

good ideas guys... thanks and keep thinking about it....

yes mark i was thinking about the same thing with the pos post being a single application and how to make it work better for more outlets.

after some searching I am leaning towards some thing from a BMW rear battery mounted junction box.... they are pretty cheap used on (some kinda bay selling site)

this might be perfect for what i am looking for in my build...

anyone thought of this before?

cheers

giggles..... any link to any of this? i was searching around and can't find anything

"You can also buy battery terminals that have 3 or 4 set screw receptacles like a distribution block. "

or was that the same as what you posted to? i was thinking you meant a battery post style with 3-4 posts attached to it

SPT55302. $17.55 on Amazon. Looks very useful.

I picked up a small fuse box from Advance Auto, added an 80 amp fuse inline with a length of battery cable, and added accessories off of that. It sits next to my battery. My one complaint is that it has no cover. I run my e-fan, power seat, and driving lights off it.
