Hey guys,

So I am trying to mount a 2.9 to an engine stand. Not matter what way I do it I can only get three arms to line up with the bolt holes. I poked around and couldn't find too much info. I did see some people using the dowels (which are hollow and not threaded) for the fourth arm, or even for two arms - one on either side. Is this a safe practice? I am worried about putting too much stress on the top bolts, or the dowels for that matter.

Awaiting sage advice...

That looks almost exactly like the picture I was going to go take for you would have looked.

The dowels are threaded, but the threads are in deeper. If you go look at your transmission bolts two of them are longer than the rest, those two belong in the dowel holes.

My engine has been up on that stand since Memorial day, been upside down, and it was on there like that for a few months a couple years ago while it was being built. I wouldn't be concerned.

And mine is a 4.0, same pattern but more engine, so more weight.

After more screwing around I got three arms in the threaded holes and one over the dowel. I didnt know they were threaded. I'll throw a bolt in there and call it a day. Thanks for the 1,000,000th time
