ok so i just recently bought a 2000 mazda b2500 4cyl. 5speed with 126,000 miles everything works on the truck a/c , heat, doesnt leak any fluids at all i noticed the other day its making this knocking or pinging noise and i cant pin point exactly where its coming from the noise gets faster as i drive and doesnt not change tone when placed throughout gears it kind of sounds like a loose rocker arm but im not sure i need some help thanks guys..

I don't know anything about your truck in general but would say if the noise changes with speed it's probably related to the drivetrain/wheels and not the engine. Could be a bad u-joint in the driveshaft, or even something stuck in a tire tread. If the noise goes away when you apply the brakes that would be a clue also. Best bet is to jack it up and turn the wheels manually to try and find it. I don't know whether your truck has u-joints or cv joints but you can't tell if a u-joint is good just because it is tight. A u-joint that is rusted solid will make a noise just like you described.

change the oil to full synthetic and add some techron to the tank..........I did the seafoam treatment once and that seemed to help.....I think the 4 bangers make a little noise but they usually keep going strong

valve noise is common, my 2.5 has it since i got it. doing an engine flush helped on mine, the tick is softer now

on the nissan the engine tick will get louder and louder as my oil drains out the bottom. idk that this will help at all but check ur oil ha

I have 99 B2500 and I it ticks a little bit. I'm not sure what to do about it but it's not bad.

if the ticking is coming from the engine you could try using premium gas that made a big difference with my truck
