Ok I have a 93 explorer but looking to yank a an axle set up from a ranger.. how do I tell if a Ranger has a True D35 set up (like what the exs use) and what gear is in the axle.. have a chance to grab an axle for seriously cheap, what year Rangers had the True D35 and how do I tell.. thanks.

if they have a 4.0: true D35. '90-92: true D35, '93-97 like earlier if 4.0 are D35, otherwise look at the pumpkin if it's smooth without ribs it's a hybrid, ribs means D35. As far as codes go to the tech library and write down or print the code list and go shopping...

I got the codes from my other site, so lets make sure I got this right, 90-92 is True D35 as long as there is a 4.0 in it. and 93-97 are jus D35, whast the diff between true and no jus d35
Ranger 72 Regular 2200 3.08
74 Regular 2200 3.45
82 Regular 2700 3.08
84 Regular 2700 3.45
85 Regular 2750 3.55
86 Regular 2700 3.73
87 Regular 2700 4.10
96 Regular 3200 3.73
F4 Limited Slip 2700 3.45
F5 Limited Slip 2750 3.55
F6 Limited Slip 2700 3.73
F7 Limited Slip 2700 4.10
K6 Limited Slip 3200 4.10

90-92 are all true D35's

Of that list, only trucks with 3.55, 3.73 or 4.10 will have a D35, but 3.73 can be hybrid also. '90 to '92 ranger 4 cylinder 4x4 trucks generally have 4.10's...

ok thanks, that helps narrow it down a lot, make the search a little easier. thanks!!
