So I put a set of avm hubs on my truck about a month ago. Shortly after I started hearing a noise that sounds like when your coasting on a bicycle. Its a fast kind of clicking noise and Isn't very loud. It sounds like the driver side and now the driver side hub won't click into lock like the other side. I can still twist it, just no click. What's going on here?

does the outer cv joint have play in the wheel bearing?

Nope I just replaced the bearings, but I tore it apart earlier and found that the outer gear on the avm hub wasnt fully disengaging. It would barely rub on one side against the inner gear. I pushed it and it fully disengaged but everytime i lock and unlock it, it goes back to rubbing. Im going to call the manufacturer tomorrow, hopefully its under warranty.

i had nothing but problems with mine i went through two sets of them. they also like to fall off going down the road. i converted to live axles. works great

yea im having the same problems with mine, i have to roll my truck back and forth to get them to lock in, any suggestions?:annoyed:

take them off clean them and lube em up with some ky... sorry i mean gear oil. make sure your wheel bearings are good. check to make sure the axle stub that comes through the middle of the bearing dose not have to much play. if it does have to much play save your self the trouble and switch to live axles the avm hubs will continue to give you problems.

I just put the bearings on like 3 months ago, but i'll go clean them and see whats up. What does the live axle set up consist of ? And what is a ball park number of that set up cost?

it is pretty much the same concept as a front wheel drive car. no more locking hubs. your front end is always locked in like the 2001 and newer rangers. you just swap in the wheel bearins and helf shafts out of a 2001 and newer ranger or a 96 and newer explorer. i got all the stuff for $100 at a junk yard.

well i wish i knew that the first time or i would of did that the first time. thanks for all the help

With the 3.0L your going to really feel the difference with the live axle though, it may not seem like it on regular roads but I go up a hill everyday and with the hubs locked in I get 17mpg and have to swap to 3rd every time and with them unlocked I get almost 20mpg and I can leave it in 4th and accel up the hill with a load.
