Attention Ford Ranger FX4 Level II Owners

The V313A may have been the factory replacement for the V305 but it was not the recall replacement or at least it was not the only one. Mine was one of the early recall replacements and it is V311A. It has not exploded in over 200K miles with some pretty rough use.

Axle tags

Yo guys,

So i got this Axle on a good deal.... almost too good of a deal from a guy up in MI. He said it came off a 02 FX4 that he was going to throw up in his truck, but never got around to it. So ive gotten the axle home and now im inspecting the tag for information. The normal stuff stands out. (from bottom) "3 L 7 3" followed by "8 8 " Then "9 G 1 7". So we can assume its the 3.73 Limited Slip 8.8 Diameter. But i cant find this axle model reflected anywhere " V 3 1 9 A " .... so here i am thinking to myself. Did i just buy one of there mystery recall axle models. Any ideas?

My understanding was that all FX4's used 4.10 gearing, but your axle clearly isn't. Have you popped the cover off to see what's really inside it?

Might make sure it is even a 31 spline axle. May very well be a 28 spline from a later mere mortal FX4 (not a Level II)
