Can you post up photos of your axle tags? There should be (2). A regular axle tag, and a lubrication tag. Post any other axle stickers that you may find.

Thanks.

I have an FX4 L2 axle in the garage (Sorry, I don't have the rest of the truck). I can snap some pictures of the tags in a bit.

I have an 8.8" 31 spline from an FX4, but the PO of the axle didn't give me the tag with it. The Thorsen carrier had been replaced with an open carrier, so the tag didn't really represent the axle as I bought it. And now it's even more different with 4.56 and Aussie locker.

Thanks guys. I'm wanting to gather information to help identify an FX4 axle from a regular Ranger axle.

I don't have any axle tag pics from my '08 FX4, so howzabout a door tag.......the "R8" indicates a 4.10 limited slip (8.8 inch/31 spline).

I will get pictures of my tags. The entire rear end was replaced under the Torsen recall but they are the original tags on that replacement axle. Yes, there are two tags.

As far as I know the tube diameter is the best way, short of opening it up.

I haven't gotten out to the garage fora few days, but I do remember looking at the tags carefully, and there were not any special marks that I noticed indicating a Torsen unit or a 31 spline axle, both of which are true of the unit I have. It just showed the standard 8.8 4L10 markings on the one, and the 75-140 Synthetic on the lube tag.

But what's the axle model on the tag?

Here are the shots of my differential FX4 tags.

The first one is of the axle codes.

The second one is indicating which lube to use. Not too clear but I think it is 75W/140.

The third one was not on my first axle but came with the recall axle. I guess it says NEW MODEL to indicate it hade been replaced in the recall.

Thanks a bunch. Come on FX4 owners, let's see some more axle tags.

Still looking for more axle tag photos

Did you get a chance to look?

I have multiple 03 Fx4 level 2 axles

V313A is the first 31 spline torsen, that didn't explode in the 2002 Fx4 rangers, they had a recall on v305 2002 Fx4 axles and they were replaced with V313A axle assemblys with new torsens!
