Anyone here painted their truck with Rust Oleum?

I painted my '92 this way. I thinned it, can't remember the %, and added enamel hardener + sprayed with a Harbor Freight suction can sprayer. Looked nice with a good gloss for a year or two, then dulled and oxidized really fast. With the hardener, it is fairly durable. Would have looked better had I buffed it and might have lasted better had I kept it waxed and covered. I was happy for the $100 invested.

The challenge I have now is I've decided to repaint and I will need to get this paint off and at least back to factory finish if I want to repaint with auto paint. Lots of sanding in my future....

Everything I've painted with rattle cans (nearly all of it Rust-Oleum) always lost it's shine and turned hazy within a year or two.

Probably be fine for a low-buck offroad beater, but not for something you want to have look nice long-term.

Did you clear coat it?

The ninny that painted my truck didn't do clear (and I swear didn't use hardener either) so about two weeks after you wax it it is all foggy and flat again.

Eventually I will have the paint waxed off I guess. :icon_idea:

I used 21 rattle cans to paint my little tractor, PITA, couldn't hardly move either pointer finger for a week. And it is flat too (but that has been 18 years ago) Hasn't really stuck that bad... just not the prettiest.
