Anyone hate speed density as much as I do?

I’ve determined it must have a bad computer. After double checking everything this morning. And taking it for a drive. It now will pop and deceleration. And the check engine light is on steady. So pulled over. Checked the codes. Code 11 only. Start it back up. Check engine light is on.

The EGR valve has a sensor on the end called an EVP(Egr Valve Position) sensor. That's what tells the PCM how much the EGR is opening. You can check it by moving the plunger manually while watching an ohm meter to make sure the resistance changes smoothly with no sudden hiccups. One of my former techs ran a 4.9 six cylinder EGR on his 351 Bronco because (1) he had one and he's a NH Yankee who hates to spend money and (2) it flowed less than the "right" valve would. I agree testing the solenoid is a good idea. GM introduced mass air before Ford did and they had so much trouble with it that they reverted to speed density for a while. We didn't have more problems with speed density, aftermarket parts and poor or loose grounds caused a lot of problems. As did aftermarket test equipment that gave "advice" instead of trouble codes. For example: O2 rich and O2 lean would generate "O2 Fault" and they'd throw a sensor at it. O2 rich or lean isn't a diagnosis, it's a symptom. I can count on my fingers the number of processors we had to replace- before OBD II we didn't call them PCM's.

After fixing a broken temp sensor. I’m now throwing codes. 84. 33. So I have to do some studying on that.

pfffft. I already have the intake. Carb. And fuel stuff. All I need is a distributor. Ain’t spending that kinda money. Lol
How are you going to do the fuel? A 3 port regulator with a return and activate the old fuel pump relay? Those regulators aren't cheap the last time I looked.

no there about 200 for a good one.

take the intake fuel pump out. Extend the pickup. And install a low pressure pump on the frame rail.
