Anyone familiar with the Contour/Mystique? Need help quickly and badly!

Well all is done with the tranny swap. Had a few snags along the way like not seeing that the positive battery cable was resting on the EGR tube which caused it to melt and forced me to remove the starter and replace the whole cable.....ouch!! Car quit on me cold during the initial test run......hahaha.

Anyways, now that it's a done deal I have the O/D light flashing on and off and was wondering if anyone could tell me why it's doing that? I did a search on the web and found that it may be a code within the tranny? Please help. Thanks.

A bit late but you need to find out what the code is. Did you notice what the trans is NOT doing?

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, a little late. I sold the car right after I got it going because I could just tell it was one of those cars you know?

The problem was it did'nt take off from a dead stop very fast and did'nt downshift when the accelerator was depressed. After it got to about 25-30mph it was fine, but from a stoplight or stopsign it was a snail.

If you know what that problem could be please share for future reference. Thanks again.

Sounds like it was fail-safe which is 3rd gear, I believe.

Oh well, it's gone.
