Hey yall, I just joined this is my first post. I have a 1992 Explorer 4x4 and I had this crazy idea, what if I put a 06-11 Ranger front clip onto it, and welded in rear taillight sections cut out of a Ranger bed. My idea is essentially to make a Explorer SUV that looks exactly like a 06-11 Ranger FX4. Anybody ever done anything even close to this before lol?

(Explorer pictured is mine, but the Ranger pictured is not mine, just a picture from google of what Id want it to look like)

I think that is a new one for here. It would probably take a lot of work and pieces for the front end. The taillights probably wouldn’t be a huge deal for a good body man with the right welder.

A lot a work and a lot of it won't come close to lining up.

A second gen (96-01) Explorer would probably be closer so you could at least graft the front of the Ranger fenders onto the Explorer fenders.

It would be a lot easier to poke a 89-92 Ranger grille in it...

The doors and body lines are the same between 1st and 2nd gen explorers. It’s just the nose and hatch that are different.

I would have figured they would be different.

At any rate for a straight up clip swap the Explorer body is wider than a Ranger.

Not to crush your dreams but its gonna look...bad. No body lines will line up, lights will look out of place...etc etc.

I always thought itd be cool to see a 1st gen (83-88)front clip on a 90-94 explorer.

yea i kinda thought about that. The only reason i though of putting the 2011 clip on is because i saw someone on facebook do it and i figured why not add taillights and make it real lol. but yea a first gen front end would be pretty cool too, i might do that

Do it lol.

If you feel froggy toss in a 1st gen dash too.

I have a 2001 Explorer chassis/body that I've been trying to figure out what to do with. Been thinking about a swamp buggy thingy, maybe even one of those "predator" engine swaps. Who knows???

@NoBrakesJake, love your username. I used to work at a brake shop called, ... You guessed it - Jake's Brakes. LOL
