Any truth to this?

So true. Most don't want to spend the money on the vehicle. Like most things today, a lot of people see items as disposable and not as an asset. The last 3 vehicles I've had I've made a profit on them just doing regular maintenance and keeping receipts.

When I sold my Toyota Tundra a couple years ago, the couple that bought it, didn't bat an eye at the price because I had a folder of everything that was ever done to the truck, they looked at another truck with a few less miles on it for a little less money, and bought mine because of the meticulous maintenance & service records even though my truck had about 12k more miles on it. The service/maintenance records is to me far more important than the options and accessories a vehicle has that can be added or taken away over time by various owners. Knowing when a vehicle was serviced is far more important to me.

I think these trucks will be just fine for reliability so long as the owner keeps the maintenance up. Not sure how Ford dealers are but my Toyota dealer gave me a loaner vehicle whenever I had my truck in for service...so it was kind of a thing to have maintenance and service done because you got to drive a different vehicle pretty much every time you had yours in for service. I drove several cars, a couple SUV's, and a couple crossovers during the 9 years I had the truck...kind of an incentive at least to me I got to drive some different vehicles, kind of a free 1-2 day test drive period LOL.

Ok, with the amount of information the reviews have, I'm going to try just sharing the link to the review for the 2019. If that works, then I'll share more. If not, I'll have to try and figure out something else. In short, they pretty much slam the Ford Ranger as a P.O.S. while giving generally pretty decent marks for just about every category and then recommend a Ridgeline, Frontier, or Tacoma as a better choice in that order.

Consumer Reports has never been reliable or balanced. A few years ago they announced they were no longer going to give Toyotas favorable ratings WITHOUT TESTING THEM. They had been rubber stamping every Toyota without testing until the Tundra and Avalon bit them. Toyota blamed their unintended acceleration on their customers being too stupid to pull the floor mats from under the gas pedal instead of admitting they cheaped out on their drive by wire system and Consumer Reports never called them on it.

Come back when there's another 0 behind the 17,000 LOL....JK.

I hope to.

I put 172,000 miles on our '02 Tacoma, & did maintenance myself. Did the oil changes every 8,000 miles for the 1st 8 years (changed oil filter every 4,000 miles) then the next 8 years changed it every 4,000 miles. The truck never needed oil added between oil changes, even after 17 years and 172,000 miles.

I'm expecting the Ranger to do the same.... only 15 years to go...

You know.....

I usually throw alot of the ranger shit away when I get one ... Hmmm.

It’s obvious that she writes for people at risk for drowning in their own spit.

As a excessive drooler I take offense to that!
