I been driving around my daughters 5.0 awd explorer and kinda like it.
Its not a silverado but its got more room inside for folks to ride..
And I pull a race car and trailer 1 or 2 times a year about 300 miles 1 way. minor hills if any.
trailer and car weigh about 5500 and I center the trailer weight so not to put too much on the explorer, I will address the sagging ass if I use it.
And yes I have the tow pak and heeavy duty cooling also. stock size tires.

Just want 1st hand knowledge of anyone towing that kind of weight for that long.

The official tow rating of the 5.0 Explorer is 6,700lbs...

I haven't even installed a hitch ball on mine yet, let alone a receiver hitch...

I towed my samurai on a single axle trailer with my 92.
I'll be hooking up a brake controler in my 94.not that I plan to tow a lot.

a Few weeks ago a friend dropped by with his 22foot camper-trailer and couldn't get it out of the spot where he parked is with his 2wd F350. my 1996 5.0 AWD explorer pulled it out effortlessly.
