Noob as in to this place and Rangers. I have been working on cars since I was 9 yrs old. I took a gamble on a 94 Ranger for 600$. It has a 4L V6 a,a 5 spd , extended cab, flareside. 4x4. Clutch is shot but driveable enough to get home. The muffler is quiet but needs replacing. Other than that, it drives OK. By the Transfer case is a bunch of wires that have been re-terminated with blue(16 AWG) female push ons. I think this is why the buttons on the dash dont work. It is just gonna be a 4th vehicle for dump runs, hauling or towing around town and an occasional beach run. As soon as I get the title, I'm gonna R+R the clutch stuff. Mean time I can teach my son how to shift the 5 spd without sweating the clutch beating.
Has anybody got any input on the Shiftster? Does it meet the advertising claims? Does anybody have recommendations for a decent manual for the truck? I borrowed a Chiltons that covers every US light truck from 91-95. It is as big as NYC phonebook and about as useful. I am looking for a generation specific manual with lotsa pictures. TIA Andy D

The shiftster replaces the motor on the electric t case so you have to climb under the vehicle and manually turn it. I'd just go to the u-pull and get a manual t case and shift linkage. They are $40 here.

For a manual, I'd move your curser up to that search button. Its gonna be about the most useful tool you can find.

Oh and welcome to the site.
