Hi everyone, the factory alarm on my 1998 Ranger has been going off about 20% of the time when I turn off the truck and open the door. It's really gotten to be very annoying. This just started in the last few months (I've had the truck for about 3 years). Is there an easy way to disable the horn from sounding when the alarm goes off or disable the alarm entirely?

Thanks

Yes, there is a Dark Green/purple stripe wire behind drivers kick panel that comes out of the door in its harness

It is the "Door unlocked with key" disarm wire

If you splice into that wire and Ground it, it will keep alarm disarmed

1997 wiring diagram below, will be the same as 1998

What triggers the alarm are Grounds and unGrounds, its also what disarms it

The RAP module(alarm module) should be behind drivers seat, behind the plastic panel
Looks like this: https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/...i2dmghjYjDwrl0UHj5EOCJ46W1MZllsA3WsQhvwQqDQ&s

You should be able to test the trigger wires for Ground or no ground

It could be Hood switch or drivers door switch(open or closed), driver door switch gets worn out
