Hey guys. I have a 2001 Ranger. Auto. 3.0L. 2WD. And the stupid airbag light is on! How do I get it off? I don't even care what is causing it...I just want it off as I am selling it :icon_thumby: can I remove a fuse or something? Didn't come with an owners manual

If you remove the bulb a beeper will start warning u that the bulb was taken. Check the passenger airbag switch bulb, sometimes it burns and makes the main one to come ON.
Taking the fuse isnt a good idea. i can bet its not that hard to fix the right way.

check the bulb on the switch, my brothers truck had the same issue.

take the cluster apart and put black electrical tape over the light... but seriously it's pretty messed up to do that to someone buying the truck...

Yeah I wouldn't do that. I just want it off cuz it looks bad. I can probably fix it. The airbags are fine haha

It should blink a couple times, pause, and blink again.

Count the blinks between the pause, that is a code that will point you in a general direction of what is wrong. My '02 F-150 did that, turned out I didn't get the airbag disconnect switched plugged in quite right after I put a new radio in it.

Yeah it does blink. I will have to check that tomorrow...they are fine as in...not deployed or missing Haha

They don't need to be deployed or missing to not be working properly. Just find out what's wrong and fix it. Sell the truck like a legit type of guy, don't intentionally screw someone over.

well the airbags are disabled when a fault is detected and if the person gets into a wreck and finds out you knowingly tampered with the warning device.. im sure they'd enjoy legally raping you.

anyways you'll need to take it to a shop most likely to get the code read.. then diagnose from there. a generic scanner won't do it

Haha guys...I want to get the light off...and I am fine with fixing it! I am not going to intentionally screw someone over...I thought the light could be on and just stay off even if something isn't wrong. Like a stored code or something. I do not know much about airbags...I want to fix this legitly...I am not a scammer...I just needed to know how about going fixing this. After work today I will get the code...well..the flashing amounts

Can you take it to Ford and have them run the code for you? Might be less of a hassle. I've never been charged just to find out a code.

It is trying to give him codes now.

The dealer can do a lot more with their equipment, but if it is something stupid simple like something came unplugged this might point you in the right direction.

I think the local dealer gets 1/2 hour diag for pulling codes.
