We just picked up a clean, low milage '94 Ranger with a 2.3L and 5 speed for my son to drive while he's away at college. It doesn't have power steering, but we would like to add it.
As a result of the Cash for Clunkers stimulus plan our local "U-Pull It" junk yard has an abundance of Exploders, Bronco IIs and V6 Rangers with PS on 'em...but no Ranger 4 bangers.
We pulled a clean pump, gear box, and hoses from a 94 Exploder, and are ready to pt it in the Ranger, but it looking at the wiring diagrams, they show a Power Steering Pressure Switch. I assumed that the switch would be either int he pressure line or the box itself, and would bump up the idle when the steering pressure increases while the engine is below a certain RPM.
Problem is, the stuff we pulled doesn't have a switch or even a boss for a switch. Is the Haynes manual wrong about the switch, or is it something the Rangers ave that the Exploders don't? If it's unique to the Ranger, where is it located?" Is there a chance that the connector is stowed in the engine bay somewhere, or am I going to have to add the wires? If I have to add 'em, can anyone tell me what pins they go to on the PCM?
Thanks in advance for any help!
