AC clutch/compressor loud noise. Video included.

Hello, recently my ac compressor has been cycling quickly so I first added a can of 134a and that fixed the rapid cycling, but now the compressor/clutch is making a grinding/squeaking noise when the clutch engages. Heres a video https://vimeo.com/188313574

Should I expect to put in a new clutch and bearing? Thanks.

Noise is not conclusive to diagnose between clutch or compressor failure

I assume, it was run low on fluid so the compressor may be damaged from lack of internal lubrication, that wouldn't effect clutch.

When that happens you can't "just" replace compressor, the compressor will release metal filings(the grinding noise) and these will travel throughout the system.
So installing "just" another compressor will doom that compressor to the same fate because the filings will still be in there and will cause it to wear out and fail.

Could it just be the clutch and bearing, maybe, but probably not.
You can certainly replace the clutch and bearing, and with fingers crossed start it up and hopefully the noise is gone

Best bet would be to look at getting system flushed and replacing compressor, and Dryer/accumulator of course.

I just replaced an AC clutch pulley bearing last week.
for the first test you don't have to remove anything, just rotate the clutch plate by hand to check for grinding. check which way is normal rotation.
there will be resistance, but it should be smooth.
if that checks out, remove belt and spin the pulley checking for noise and smooth operation.
