If you didn't build it; it's not really yours
Probably a good enough description of what it is doing...

I replaced the intake, tps, ect, act, EGR and cleaned the throttle body real well. It is idling a little high but otherwise runs really well. The only thing is it seems to be a little abrupt on the throttle. That is, when you are cruising along and you let off the throttle it is not smooth. It is rather abrupt. The same thing happens when you gas it from a cruise. It's like the throttle is snapping shut instead of gradually. Does that make sense? I thought the idle bypass is supposed to control that but it looks pretty new and I hate replacing stuff just because. It does not do it all the time but it does do it most of the time.
Ideas?

It's an '85, right? What motor are you working on?

sorry.
2.3 FI. It has 200K+ miles on it but runs pretty well, does not smoke and so far as not used any oil. The tranny is a TK5

Try a different MAP sensor.

Idle servo ?
Mine hangs open once in awhile so I unplug it until I can take it apart and spray it with wd40 then its good for a year
While I have it unpluged it drives like you described, but better than idling at 2grand

Idle servo? Is this the same as the idle air bypass?

OK so I took off the idle air control valve and it seemed fine. It also looks like it was recently replaced. The idle was set kind of high so I knocked that down a bit. I still have the same problem but it is not nearly as bad.
Thanks,
jim
