Hello I have a problem with my transmission that it wont shift out of first in the overdrive position. I recently rebuilt the tranny myself very first ever and if I shift it down manually to first then second and finally up to overdrive position I can drive fine until I come to a stop I have to repeat the process. I do not know much about transmissions but it is drivable I just don't want to shift manually anymore has anyone had the same problem or any have a clue what could be the issue. I rebuilt the transmission because it was popping the main seal but now it does not pop it any more.

TV....gov... modulator...loose vb blown gasket...

Throttle valve cable

Governor.

Those are the easy things.

Likely it's in the valve body. Whether gasket or check ball stuck or sploded...

With 1st and rev being solid...and the presence of higher gears...it's a tough call.

You are sure there is manual 2nd...or is it going right to manual 3rd?

I'm sure there is a manual 2nd but later this week I will install a new valve body hopefully its that.

Sounds like the governor could be sticking. Take it off and clean it well.

I highly recommend a shift kit from Transgo. It's worth the $20 for the instructions and diagrams it comes with.
