on my 94 my a4ld is starting to do a sparatic shift between 3-4 that has increasingly gotten worse. i have serviced the transmission recently, but that didnt seem to help nor hurt the problem. i was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and what i could do to fix it?

What exactly is it doing? Mine is a pretty solid shift into OD though at lower speeds it sort of "glides" slowly into 4th.

There is an Overdrive Modulator that could be the problem. Make sure it's getting vacuum (which it must be if you have the gear) and make sure the vac tube is in good shape with no cracks or anything.

It might be worth replacing the little Over Drive Vacuum Modulator since they are cheap. I believe they have to be adjusted. You MIGHT be able to just change out the Pin / Plunger from the Old Modulator and install it in the new one but I'm not sure. That would eliminate the need to adjust it.

it goes into od like it always has, it will run fine for a little bit the it wil start shifting back and forth from 3rd to od. it started doing this over a year ago then the problem went away and of course now its back. when the weather gets better ill check out that overdrive modulator though.
